What is a GAF permit?
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, (NOAA), closes halibut fishing to sports fishing on certain days of the season. So that our guests may still catch halibut on these days, DCFC purchases a GAF permit from the commercial fleet’s quota or IFQ. This transfer allows our guests the opportunity to retain halibut on a closed day up to the normal limit per day.
